To provide Gold Coast retirees with up to date budget information, and to enable them to speak directly with government, the Gold Coast Branch of Australians in Retirement (AIR) has planned a series of interactive meetings.
These meetings are designed to keep retirees informed of the budget changes, to alert them as to how they may be effected and to provide a forum to discuss their concerns with government. Three meetings are planned.
On Wednesday 21st May AIR has arranged for Mr Hik Chadurchi to address its Investor Group. Mr Chadurchi is an excellent presenter who will discuss the Australian economy and the recent budget changes.
The AIR Branch meeting on 12th June will have Russell Lenehan from Centrelink to explain changes to Age Pension eligibility, benefits and concessions introduced in the Federal Budget and what you may need to do to maximise your entitlements.
And finally, on 19th July, Mr Steve Ciobo MP, Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasury will discuss the effect of the Federal Budget on retirees and be available to answer questions and debate the issues raised by members.
Gold Coast AIR President, Mr Robert Grover, said: “Budget changes are likely to affect all Gold Coast retirees. Unfortunately some confusion exists as to how retirees’ circumstances will change and what action they should take. It would be terrible if retirees were unnecessarily disadvantaged simply because they were unaware of the changes and what they should do to minimize their impact. It is for this reason we have opened our meetings to all Gold Coast seniors.”
All Gold Coast retirees are welcome to attend. All meetings will be held at 9:30 am at the Broadbeach Seniors’ Centre, 23 T E Peters Drive, (cnr Havana Keys), Broadbeach. For further information or to register your attendance please contact Rob Grover at robgrover@hotmail.com or 0417 732 242.
