RetireAustralia’s First Gold Coast Community Tees Off

The Verge

Construction has begun on RetireAustralia’s luxury new Gold Coast vertical retirement village, The Verge at Burleigh Golf Club, with 30 per cent of apartments already secured through Expressions of Interest.

The Verge is RetireAustralia’s first new retirement village to be co-located with a thriving golf club and their first vertical retirement village to be constructed on the Gold Coast. A leading retirement specialist, RetireAustralia owns and operates 27 existing retirement villages across New South Wales, Queensland and South Australia.

The pet-friendly community is a partnership between RetireAustralia and Burleigh Golf Club and will offer the best of both worlds to future residents: stunning views over the fairways and an active lifestyle with access to a new onsite wellness hub; while some of the Coast’s best beaches are close by for relaxation by the sea.

RetireAustralia Chief Executive Officer Dr Brett Robinson said The Verge brought a new standard of retirement living to the region, featuring spacious, well-designed independent living apartments and a caring approach with tailored support.

“The Verge will be in a class of its own and we’re excited to be celebrating the start of construction on this landmark project,” Dr Robinson said.

“This will be a retirement community that supports active seniors looking to embrace the next exciting stage of their lives in one of Australia’s most sought-after coastal locations.” Overlooking Burleigh Golf Club’s 10th hole, The Verge is a short drive to stunning beaches and some of the region’s best dining experiences, shopping and entertainment hubs.

The popular Miami Marketta, with its array of street food, boutique stalls and live music, is within walking distance while the retail mecca of Pacific Fair and the Nobby Beach café scene are both a quick drive from the front door.

The one, two and three-bedroom independent living apartments have been designed to create a sense of space and comfort with floor-to-ceiling windows making the most of the sweeping views and suffusing internal spaces in natural light.

Spacious balconies are extensions of the living area and the open-plan kitchen, dining and living spaces are perfect for entertaining friends and family.

High quality inclusions and age-friendly designs ensure every apartment is optimised for ease of living and the beautifully appointed spaces will also accommodate evolving technology to help residents stay connected.

“The health and wellbeing of our residents is a priority and an onsite wellness hub will feature a gymnasium and indoor and outdoor activity areas for regular exercise, a beauty salon, as well as a café and lush gardens for relaxing and socialising,” Dr Robinson said.

A rooftop terrace with breathtaking views of the golf course and a resident’s bar will offer further enticing community spaces for connecting with fellow neighbours and catch-ups with family and friends.

The Verge is within wandering distance of Burleigh Golf Club’s existing clubhouse which includes a restaurant, bar and deck overlooking the golf course.

“The Verge is certainly resonating with buyers with continually strong interest since its official launch earlier this year,” Dr Robinson said.

“This new community will also help to address the critical undersupply of quality seniors housing options for residents within the surrounding area who want to stay close to their family and support networks as they age.

“This is an issue being experienced in various metropolitan and regional areas across Australia and forms an important part of our strategy for our new retirement communities.”

More than 17,000 people aged over 65 are living within five kilometres of Burleigh Golf Club yet there are currently less than 300 retirement dwellings in the area.

Offering a fulfilling lifestyle for active and independent over 65s, The Verge will be built in three stages, with the first stage expected to be completed by late 2020.

Independent living apartments are priced from $530,000 and expressions of interest are now open.
