Founding member of The Eagles and guitarist Glen Frey has passed away at the age of 67.
The news was confirmed this morning by a statement posted on the band’s official Facebook page, which read:
“It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our comrade, Eagles founder, Glenn Frey, in New York City on Monday, January 18th, 2016.”
According to TMZ , Glen’s cause of death was due to a combination of complications from rheumatoid arthritis, acute ulcerative colitis, and pneunomia. He had apparently been battling intestinal issues for some time, having surgery last November.
He passed away in New York City.
Glen co-wrote and sang on many of The Eagles’ biggest hits, including Tequila Sunrise, Take It Easy, Lyin’ Eyes and Heartache Tonight. He co-wrote Hotel California and Desperado with Don Henley.
After The Eagles broke up in 1980, Glen went on to have a successful solo musical career with The Heat Is On and You Belong To The City.
He also acted, scoring a recurring role in Miami Vice.
Rest In Peace, Glen Frey.
